Data is increasing being stored in clouds due to the benefits of this infrastructure. In this paper we study a general queueing model of this process and numerically compute the performance measures which characterize the performance of such operations. In particular, we are able to analyze the resource usage of performing these operations as well as the Quality of Service provided to the data packets.

In this paper we focus on the analysis of the waiting time of data packets to receive backup service and the frequency of backup operations. In particular, we compute the generating function of the waiting time and compute the tail probabilities using dominant singularity analysis.

Storage processes are designed in a way to guarantee a high quality of service to its users. The service quality levels are ensured by performing the operations at an optimal frequency. Moreover, long backup off periods and high backlogs are also avoided by using trigger mechanisms. In this paper, we model these trigger mechanisms using restarting thresholds and study the underlying queueing model.

In this paper we model the streaming of $360^0$ videos on a VR headset using a wireless channel. We model both the intermittent behavior of the wireless channel as well as the prediction of the head position of the user. The MDP based streaming algorithm we present, guarantees a high Quality of Experience (QoE) for the headset users while ensuring that the resource usage is minimised.
